Thank you, Magellan Project, for making it possible for me to experience all of the amenities of our nation's capitol, and the DMV area!
Today, I was lucky enough to explore the National Harbor with four other W&J students- three of which have grown up in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area.
For anyone else who did not know what the National Harbor is: its a MASSIVE water front space. The site has a convention center, six hotels, restaurants, shops, and condominiums. National Harbor is where the national spelling bee competition is held. The Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center located in the National Harbor, is the largest hotel between New Jersey and Florida, and the largest in the Washington area. The site includes a beachfront walking path and a connection to a bike trail on the Woodrow Wilson Bridge that crosses into Alexandria, Virginia. Amusements include a children's carousel, and the Capital Wheel- a 175-foot Ferris wheel on a pier that extends into the Potomac River.
While in the National Harbor we took a water taxi (my first time), to Oldtown Alexandria, where we met Cooper, good will ambassador pictured above. To anyone staying in the DC area or anyone who has time- both locations are must sees with ample shopping and restaurants!!
